 DayTrips

In addition to our main holidays, we offer a number of day trips throughout the year visiting pre-arranged destinations carefully selected to produce a good range of species, and also trips to look for a specific species or two.

For the novice birdwatcher we also run tours of either a half or full day to an established reserve, such as Cley or Titchwell, as an introduction to the birds of Norfolk.

Tours will generally last up to 8 hours for a full day or 3 to 4 hours for a half days tour with the exact duration depending on the itinerary and the nature of the tour. Evening tours of a couple of hours will also be on offer during the summer months.

We will meet at a pre-arranged destination, usually the reserve car park, or if the location is a bit hard to find, we would meet at a nearby place and then you can follow your guide to the destination. Some tours may involve the onward travel to a further site, but if so, you'll either be able to follow your guide to the next location, or if practical, travel together and return to collect cars at the end of the day.

For a full day tour you will usually need to bring with you a packed lunch as depending on the location visited we may not be within easy reach of a cafe, pub etc, although if visiting a main reserve such as Cley or Titchwell lunch can be taken in the visitors centre if you so prefer. Please also bring either a flask or bottled drink, and as we may be away from the cars for some time, also bring a bag to carry your lunch and drinks etc in.

Please ensure that you have footwear that is suitable for walking on potentially uneven, unmade or muddy ground, and check the weather forecast for the day as warm and waterproof clothing may well be required. A sun hat and sun cream would also be recommended for the summer months. Naturally binoculars are essential (although they can be hired at Titchwell), but your guide will have a telescope which can be used by the group.

For those of you who are less mobile, and prefer or need an easy terrain to cover, reserves such as Cley and Titchwell have hard surfaces and/or boardwalks and both have hides that are easily accessible for wheelchair users.

Unless otherwise stated the advertised price will only cover the services of your guide for the tour. You will be responsible for any parking or entrance fees, any additional travel between sites during the day, and any refreshments and lunch purchased during the day.
