Winter Holidays
Our winter Holidays provide you with the opportunity of witnessing the spectacular sight of the thousands of Pink-footed Geese which winter in the county. Numbers peak at over 100,000 with many taking advantage of the discarded sugar beet tops and roots following harvesting and it is a truly amazing sight and sound when huge flocks of these birds take flight and pass overhead.
Other highlights of a winter tour includes large numbers of waders on the mudflats, good numbers of ducks both on the marshes and the sea, and wintering populations of Brent, Bean and White-fronted Geese and Whooper and Bewicks Swans. Also Snow Bunting, Shorelark, Common Crane, Avocet, Bearded Tit, Marsh and Hen Harriers and Barn Owl should all be seen, plus numerous other species that are detailed under the winter seasonal summary in the Birds and Wildlife section. You are welcome to arrange your own accommodation, or just discuss your requirements with us as we have a good number of B&B's, Guesthouses, Hotels and self-catering cottages in the area where previous clients have stayed. With B&B's starting from £25 per night, Hotels offering special offer deals up till easter, or cheap deals available during the winter for a short break in a self-catering property, we will hopefully be able to put you in touch with accommodation to suit your budget.
We find that most of our clients prefer to travel up the night before a tour to avoid a very early start out from home, and many stay the night after the tour has finished, especially in the winter, to avoid a long journey home through the night, but of course your accommodation can be arranged to suit your individual preference, and tailored around your available free time and budget.
