Our Guides
The guides for our tours are father and son team, Rob and Simon, both very well known figures in Norfolk and beyond, with considerable field experience of the birds that we will encounter during one of our tours.
After a few birding holidays to the county, the family moved to Cley in 1978. With its nationally famous bird reserve, Cley was the centre of the British birding scene, and with many of the eminent birdwatchers of the time spending countless hours in the area, it was an excellent place to learn and develop our interests in birds into the passion and enthusiasm that we have today.
As was the norm with all keen birders of the time, as indeed it is still today, from the late 70's each October found us holidaying on the Isles of Scilly where we've had the chance to encounter and enjoy many scarce and vagrant birds, and coupled with frequent trips over the years to many other parts of Britain and Ireland, including migrant hot-spots such as Fair Isle, Cape Clear, Spurn, Portland Bill etc, we have gained a good all-round knowledge of the birds that visit this country.
Having now clocked up 30 years of living and birding in the county, we have naturally developed a very good knowledge of the birds that are to be seen in the county, the best places to find them and the most suitable times to search for them. Consequently this will ensure that as a participant on one of our tours, you will have the maximum chance of seeing and enjoying the wealth and variety of birds that Norfolk has to offer, along with the opportunity to learn about them, including their indentification, their calls and song, and the habitat they occur in, so in addition to a memorable stay, you will gain a better understanding of the birds that we see which will hopefully be of great benefit to you on your future birding trips.
We are always more than happy to discuss any aspects of our tours or the birds that we are likely to see, so please do not hesitate to call if you have any queries, and we look forward to hopefully meeting you soon on one of our tours.
